Report: Everton watching former Chelsea man starring in Serie A

Everton have a number of issues that they need to address in transfer market moving forward, from too much deadwood to a lack of centre back depth.

And while those are two very big problems, there’s also a distinct absence of cutting edge in the final third of the pitch.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has showed promise of late, but isn’t yet a reliable goalscorer. Meanwhile, Moise Kean is yet to get going, Gylfi Sigurdsson is a disappointment and Theo Walcott is Theo Walcott.

So some extra creativity is certainly needed in the Toffees’ attack to ease the burden on Richarlison.

It makes sense, then, that Goal are reporting that the Blues are one of four teams hot on the tail of Sassuolo winger Jeremie Boga.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team are watching the 23-year-old, although Italian giants Napoli have already moved ahead with a £17million offer.

Chelsea have a £12.5million buy-back option for their former player, but have shown no indication that they intend to utilise it.

The big question is whether Boga has the quality to improve this Everton team? Is he an upgrade on what they already have?

Well, he’s scored four times and provided two assists in 18 games for a middling Serie A team this campaign, which is a good tally but not exactly world-beating.

He’s versatile, but he is predominantly a left winger. However, it’s difficult to claim with any certainty that he would be better than someone like Bernard, for example.

So perhaps this is one worth leaving for now, with more proven targets surely out there.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have been linked with an exciting swoop for a Belgium international forward.
