Report: Ancelotti tells Brands to find replacement for Everton big name
We all expected that there would be a severe reckoning at Everton after their limp, lacklustre and, indeed, pathetic defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
And it certainly seems that that is the case. New manager Carlo Ancelotti would have been dismayed by what he saw from his players in the second half at Anfield.
It appears that he was so furious that he has ordered wholesale changes to the squad. The Sun reported on Tuesday that the Italian wants to get rid of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Cenk Tosun, Theo Walcott, Morgan Schneiderlin and, possibly, Michael Keane.
The most noteworthy aspect of the report, though, is that the Toffees boss is said to have instructed director of football Marcel Brands to find a new number one goalkeeper this month.
He wants a top-class shot-stopper to come in and rival the stuttering Jordan Pickford, whose form has been up and down since he joined the club from Sunderland in 2017.

Pickford is so frustrating because he is capable of some magnificent saves, as he showed with a first half stop to prevent Divock Origi on Sunday.
However, he also all too often makes killer errors that cost the Toffees. That has been the case time and time again throughout his Goodison Park tenure.
So if Ancelotti can go and get a top class shot-stopper to either replace Pickford or spur the England number one onto another level, then he absolutely must do so.
In other Everton news, the club are reportedly tracking a former Premier League midfielder.
