Report: Ancelotti talks directly to Everton transfer target

There’s no doubt that Everton need some reinforcements this month, both in defence and in attack. The squad simply isn’t good enough.

That will surely be a priority for new manager Carlo Ancelotti, and it appears that the Italian has quickly gotten to work.

Indeed, Brazilian outlet Gazeta Esportiva reported on Friday that the Toffees boss actually phoned Gremio forward Everton Soares to talk directly to the player.

It’s said that the Blues are ready to make an offer of £25.5million to try and sign the 23-year-old this month.

The Brazilian international was thought to be extremely close to signing for Everton’s Premier League rivals Arsenal last summer.

Meanwhile, German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund are also said to have been on the verge of bringing him to Europe in the past.

This just seems like fate, doesn’t it? Everton at Everton – what could be better? Ancelotti appears to agree, because he’s seemingly hard at work to get a deal done.

The playmaker is an established Brazilian international at this point, with 15 goals and seven assists for his club last season, so he’s pretty decent.

Is he exactly what the Toffees need right now? Maybe, maybe not. But he’s a quality player who’d instantly elevate Ancelotti’s team.

In other Everton news, one of the club’s brightest young talents has reportedly attracted attention from Bayern Munich.
