Report: Club want £42m for Everton transfer target
Despite the arrival of one of the most high-profile managers in world football, transfer business at Everton has yet to really begin in earnest.
Still, you anticipate that there will be some top talents arriving at Goodison Park at some point in the near future.
However, it looks like one of those who won’t be joining the Toffees any time soon is Roma winger Cengiz Under.
That’s because Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport reported recently that the Series A side will demand £42million for the Turkey international come the summer.
Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones reported earlier this mont that the Merseyside outfit have made contact with Roma over Under.
The capital side are now hoping that the 22-year-old gets back to his old form between now and the end of the season so that they can make as much off his sale as possible.
Does this news end Everton’s hopes?
Given that the club’s director of football Marcel Brands stated recently that it was unrealistic to expect the Toffees to spend £60/£70/£80million on a player, probably.
This fee isn’t quite at that level, of course, but it would be a surprise to see the Blues splash out this much on a player who’s not having a great season in Rome.
One goal in 12 games isn’t going to convince anyone to splash out £42million, least of all Everton.
In other Everton news, the club’s supporters have reacted jubilantly to an official update on a key player.
