Ancelotti heaps praise on one Everton star

There’s not been many Everton players who have shone this season, that’s for sure, but there are those who have done slightly better than others.

The team certainly came out and put in a much-improved display against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.

One of the players who starred in that game, and whose presence from the start made a big difference, was winger Bernard.

The Brazilian international was superb from the start, knitting together moves with top-notch intelligence and poise.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti was certainly impressed by what the 27-year-old offered up at Goodison Park.

“He has quality, he is able to play between the lines. He has skills and we need skill in this squad. I hope he can repeat that tomorrow,” he said at his pre match press conference, as per journalist Adam Jones’ twitter account.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti also revealed that midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson and attacker Richarlison are out of Saturday’s clash with West Ham United.

Is Bernard the key to an Everton resurgence?

Last weekend’s game would suggest so, yes. The diminutive Brazilian showed how creative he can be and what a big impact that has on his team when he’s at the top of his game.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man had one shot, made four key passes and completed three successful dribbles on his way to a WhoScored rating of 7.42 – and all of that in just 71 minutes.

Ancelotti simply doesn’t have another player as naturally creative as Bernard, and that’s why he could well be the key to the Italian getting the team back on track.
