Michael Ball tears into one Everton man
The 1-1 draw between Everton and West Ham United on Saturday wasn’t exactly the most pleasing game to watch, that’s for sure.
You could tell that this was a clash between two teams who are low on confidence and trying to find their feet again after a harrowing first half of the season.
In the first half, in particular, the Toffees looked well below par. They seemingly couldn’t get a grip on the game and their use of possession was woeful.
One of the chief culprits in that respect was central midfielder Fabian Delph, who put in a lacklustre effort at the London Stadium.
It was the former Manchester City star who made the foolish tackle that gave the Hammers the free-kick that would lead to Issa Diop’s goal.
Former Blues defender Michael Ball was certainly left infuriated by the 30-year-old’s efforts in east London.
“Someone needs to tell Delph a few home truths see how he likes it,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account on Saturday.
“Daft challenge !”
Is Ball being too harsh?
Not really, no. Given recent events and Delph’s outspoken nature, he’s become an easy target for Toffees critics.
In this case, though, he deserved it. The tackle he made prior to Diop’s goal was simply ridiculous.
He’s an experienced player and he should have known better. It ended up costing his team, something that he will no doubt accept graciously if challenged on it…
In other Everton news, Carlo Ancelotti has heaped big praise on one player after Saturday’s game.
