Ancelotti reveals Everton 27y/o set for return v Newcastle on Tuesday

Everton defender Michael Keane will return to the Toffees’ squad for their Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Tuesday evening, according to manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The 27-year-old was absent from the Blues’ 1-1 draw with West Ham over the weekend, with Yerry Mina deputising for him in the capital.

But his boss has revealed that the England international will be back in contention for a spot in his lineup when the Toon Army visit Goodison Park tomorrow night.

Liverpool Echo reporter Adam Jones shared the news to his personal Twitter following a press conference from Ancelotti on Monday.

In other injury news, Ancelotti also revealed that Gylfi Sigurdsson, Alex Iwobi, and Richarlison are all set to miss out, despite the latter training on Monday with the rest of the squad.

Will Keane come back into the side straight away?

The England international has been a go-to option for both Marco Silva and Carlo Ancelotti this season, but he’s been in and out of the starting XI in recent weeks, and he could struggle to regain his place on Tuesday.

To be fair to him though, that’s not exactly his fault.

Yerry Mina stepped into the breach alongside Mason Holgate on Saturday, and he was superb.

With five tackles, five clearances, six aerial duels won, and a pass completion rate in excess of 85%, he more than earned his Whoscored rating of 7.28.

Given that kind of performance, it will be hard for Ancelotti to oust him from his plans.

The only thing that might stand in Keane’s favour is the fact that in his last match he registered a Whoscored rating of 7.68.

With both in such good form, Ancelotti will certainly have had worse headaches during his time as a manager.
