Ancelotti set to make two changes: Predicted Everton starting XI v Watford
Everton somehow managed to throw away two points in the dying, DYING moments of their 2-2 draw with Newcastle United on Tuesday night.
For all the disappointment of that late-game collapse at Goodison Park, the preceding 90 minutes was fairly encouraging.
There were goals for both strikers, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean, and slight improvement in the centre of midfield.
So it would be slightly surprising to see manager Carlo Ancelotti make a shedload of changes against Watford next Saturday afternoon.
Indeed, it is surely far more likely that he’d make just two alterations. Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin can expect to drop out, with Seamus Coleman and Tom Davies set to replace them.
Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford can’t be blamed for either of the Magpies’ goals on Tuesday and, with next to no competition, will almost certainly keep his place here.
As mentioned Coleman may well come back in at right back after a rest on Tuesday, which would see Djibril Sidibe move forward to the right wing, with Walcott dropping out. Lucas Digne, meanwhile, will likely start on the opposite side of the defence.
Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate seem to be Ancelotti’s best bet as a centre back partnership, and so both can expect to start against the Hornets.
With Sidibe potentially lining up on the right hand side of midfield, Bernard will surely set up residence on the opposite flank.
In central midfield, Ancelotti will presumably rotate once again, with Davies coming in for Schneiderlin to partner Fabian Delph.
And up front, it’s highly unlikely that there will be any changes. Calvert-Lewin and Kean will surely start once again here.
In other Everton news, a reported transfer summit has seemingly boosted the Toffees’ chances of signing a Brazilian forward.
