Report: Ancelotti wants Napoli midfielder he knows well at Everton

Ever since manager Carlo Ancelotti arrived at Everton, the Toffees have been linked with Serie A stars aplenty.

It would appear that the Italian is only capable of signing players from his own country, or that’s what the rumour mill would have you believe, anyway.

However, one transfer rumour that emerged from the peninsula late on Wednesday night may actually have legs.

Italian outlet Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Ancelotti wants to bring midfielder Allan to Goodison Park from his former club Napoli.

The Brazilian international emerged as one of the finest defensive midfielders in Italy under Ancelotti, so it’s no surprise that the Blues boss is keen on a reunion.

However, one problem standing in the way of this potential deal is that Napoli and Inter Milan are said, by the same report, to be in talks regarding a swap of Allan and Inter midfielder Matias Vecino.

That would obviously put an end to any Toffees swoop for the 29-year-old.

Is Allan the man for Everton?

This has been another season of consistent excellence from the Napoli man, who has been operating at a very high level for a number of years in Naples.

Ultimately if you trust Ancelotti’s judgement then you’d support this move. He knows Allan extremely well and so if he feels he’d be a good addition then he likely would be.

Lord knows the Toffees need a new central midfielder this month, because their play in the middle of the park has been dire this season.
