Walcott raves over one Everton team-mate

Everton winger Theo Walcott hasn’t had a good time of it at Goodison Park, and many fans would now attest that he has lost the ability that earned him his name.

The 30-year-old – 31 in March – still has much of his blistering pace, but the struggle for consistent end product which has plagued his career has only worsened on Merseyside.

Still, he is somebody who has been around at the top level for a long, long time, and so he knows a quality player when he sees one.

In Toffees striker Moise Kean, it seems, the England international has identified someone of immense quality.

“He is working really hard in training everyday, we see some of the mad stuff he does with the ball and what he can do and the power he’s got,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“But not just that, what I liked on Tuesday was the work-rate, winning the ball back, working hard for the team and being an absolute, solid unit up there along with Dom [Calvert-Lewin], who has been so reliable for us all season.

“He’s a young kid and I feel we put a lot of pressure on these young players, he just needs to develop, let them enjoy their football and the best will come out.

“It is going to take time, coming from Italy as well and a new manager has come in but he’ll be fine, he’s working really hard and he’s got a good squad and team behind him.”

Are we set to see the real Kean after Tuesday night’s showing?

We certainly all hope so. The Italian’s performance in the 2-2 draw with Newcastle United was massively encouraging for his prospects moving forward.

The youngster is a quality, quality player. We all saw that when he was at Juventus. But he is just 19 years of age. He needs time to adjust to English football and to find his feet.

With the support of his countryman Carlo Ancelotti and senior players like Walcott, he should be able to do just that.

In other Everton news, Ancelotti is expected to make two changes for Saturday’s important clash with Watford.
