Reliable journalist: Everton in talks for two transfer targets
Everton have yet to really get going in the transfer market this month, and the club’s loyal fans await the big splash promised by Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival.
Still, there remains around a week to go in the window, and so there is still time for something to materialise.
Indeed, there is surely work going on at Goodison Park to ensure that this month is a successful one for the Toffees.
That’s certainly the feeling of Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, who revealed on his personal Twitter account on Thursday night that the club are in talks for two transfer targets.
“All confirmed! #Everton want to close for #Everton (Gremio) and #Vecino (Inter). Talks ongoing. #transfers #EFC,” he wrote.
Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino and Gremio playmaker Everton Soares have been two of the names most intensely linked with a Toffees switch during this window.
Could these two deals be close to completion?
It certainly sounds like it, and Schira has a good track record. He was the one who broke that West Ham United would be signing striker Sebastien Haller for a club record fee last summer, for which he got all sorts of abuse at the time.
So he typically knows what he’s talking about, and so this is a very encouraging update for the Blues supporters.
If the club can get deals done for these two players then that would be a massive boost for Ancelotti. He needs more quality in the final third and more consistency in central midfield, and Everton and Vecino would supply both of those.
In other Everton news, the club have reportedly turned down an approach to take one of their first team stars on loan.
