Goodison News’ View: Everton transfer hopes surely in tatters

This Everton squad needs reinforcements in almost every position, and the final third is no different. Marcel Brands needs to get to work.

There’s been some improvement of late up front, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean doing well, but attacking midfield is a different proposition.

Brazilian playmaker Bernard has looked good, but the likes of Theo Walcott and Gylfi Sigurdsson have been woeful for some time now.

It had appeared that Gremio’s creative fulcrum Everton Soares could be a potential signing this month, but that may now be up in smoke.

Brazilian outlet Globoesporte reported on Monday that the Toffees are struggling to get a deal done due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.

We all know that the Merseyside outfit didn’t have a good year from a monetary point of view, and so the Brazilian international could be a no-go this month.

That’s a real shame, because Everton would be ideal for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. He’s a top-quality playmaker who would form a fantastic tandem with his countrymen Bernard and Richarlison behind either Kean or Calvert-Lewin.

The Blues had been willing to spend £25million, but that may be out the window now. Perhaps they’ll need to sell somebody if they want to bring Everton to the club.

If they can do that then they should, because this is a player who would be ideal for the Toffees.

In other Everton news, a national journalist has revealed that a German club are interested in signing a young Blues winger.
