Report: Enquiries made over Everton duo

It seems like Everton have been looking to sell out of favour right back Cuco Martina and striker Oumar Niasse for years now.

The two players have really struggled to make any impact on Merseyside and are sad indictments of the club’s poor recruitment in recent years.

Both players seem to have been brought in to serve as squad options, but have proved to not even be good enough for those limited roles.

Now, though, the Liverpool Echo has reported that the club have received enquiries for both of the outcasts.

The two players trained with the first team on Tuesday, but have both been made available for loan or permanent exits this month.

The club have now begun to field enquires for the duo, who both have just six months remaining on their contracts.

No firm offers have yet been made, but with the transfer window running down across Europe, they could still leave this week.

Could they really leave this window?

Well, there’s a chance, but Toffees fans have been burnt before, here. Neither man will command much of a fee if they go permanently, but removing their wages would be a boost.

Martina and Niasse don’t play for the Blues, far from it. They’ve cobbled together a couple of substitute appearances between them this term, but that’s about it.

Still, these two seem to stick around like a bad smell, so it’s a case of believing it when you see it for the club’s supporters.

In other Everton news, a former Premier League striker has admitted his disappointment with one Toffees summer signing.
