Report – Everton enter hunt for in-demand teenage dazzler
Everton are keen on bringing Portuguese forward Rafael Camacho to the club, according to Football Insider.
The 19-year-old only left Merseyside at the beginning of this season after rejecting the offer of a new five-year contract from city rivals Liverpool.
Since then, he has been plying his trade in his home country with Sporting Lisbon, and has become a standout performer in recent weeks, starting all of their last four matches.
And it is understood that the Toffees have now joined the hunt to secure his services.
Both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are also credited with an interest in the versatile forward, who has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Sporting this term.
Chelsea and Arsenal are both said to be following his progress, with the report stating that he could return to England as early as this coming summer.
Would Camacho be a good signing?
Like them or loathe them, Liverpool are doing pretty well at the moment, and that extends to their output of exciting young talent too.
They’re not exactly short of an eye-catching player or two, so for them to have gone all out to try and tie Camacho down, it really speaks volumes about his potential as a player.
The teenager has taken a brave step by saying no to a long term deal at Anfield and seeking his big break elsewhere, but he looks to have got it now with Sporting – and he’s making good on his chance too.
With 6.75 successful dribbles and 2.37 accurate crosses per match, as per Wyscout, he’s already beginning to show glimpses of the special talent that he possesses, and if he keeps this up, you can bet that whoever lands him will have to pay a lot more than the £7 million that Liverpool let him go for.
