Robinson fearing the worst for Everton after potential injury blow
For a long time now, Theo Walcott has been a disappointment at Everton. The England international just hasn’t been able to find a spark.
In the last couple of games, though, he has suddenly become galvanised, producing performances better than any we’d seen from him this season.
The 30-year-old scored the winner against Watford a couple of weeks back, before providing an assist in the victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
However, he’d shortly leave the field after setting that goal up for Bernard, with what appeared to be an ankle problem.
Former England international Paul Robinson certainly feels that the timing of the injury is hugely unfortunate for both Walcott and Everton.
“He’s got amongst the goals recently,” he told Football Insider. “He has been playing a lot better under [Carlo] Ancelotti, but yesterday he came off in the first half of the game so it’s obviously going to be a blow for him and for the manager as well because of the system that he plays.
“He fits in nicely on that right hand side.”
How big of a blow would this be for Everton?
It would certainly be frustrating, and much more so than it would have been viewed a few weeks ago.
Then, Walcott was in poor form and was keeping his place in Ancelotti’s starting XI mainly due to a lack of other options.
However, he has picked up of late and it would now be viewed as a bit of an issue for the Italian.
Still, Alex Iwobi is back from injury, while Djibril Sidibe can perform a more advanced role on the right hand side as well.
In other Everton news, the club are reportedly preparing to make a move for a defensive stalwart from a British giant.
