Report: Ancelotti dazzled by rarely-seen Everton ace

Everton winger Anthony Gordon appears to be the Toffees youngster best positioned to make a significant first team breakthrough.

The 18-year-old has made just two senior appearances this season with a total of 51 minutes, but he is impressing the decision-makers at Goodison Park nonetheless.

He has been making the match day squad fairly regularly under manager Carlo Ancelotti, and is clearly valued by the Italian.

Whether we will see him make his first Premier League start anytime soon remains to be seen, but it’s surely going to happen sooner or later.

Indeed, Football Insider reported on Thursday that Ancelotti is convinced that the teenager can become a future first team star.

The Blues boss is thought to have been blown away by the technical ability the Englishman has demonstrated in training.

Gordon is on a contract until 2023, but has been the subject of interest from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the past.

Ancelotti, though, is keen to give the youngster significant first team opportunities moving forward.

Can Gordon deliver on Ancelotti’s faith?

You’d certainly hope so, and everything we’ve seen from him so far suggests that he can. The fact that Ancelotti has this much belief in him is in itself a big indication that he can make the grade at Goodison.

Everton have some talented attacking midfielders, but there’s certainly room for Gordon to break through.

Theo Walcott is 30 years of age now, so if Ancelotti can mould Gordon into his successor then that would be fantastic for the Toffees.

The big thing now is the Italian’s ability to give the teenager the right amount of football to aid his progression without exposing him to the harsh reality of life as a top flight regular too soon.
