Report: European title contenders in for Everton misfit

No matter how hard they tried, Everton simply weren’t able to shift misfit striker Oumar Niasse during the January transfer window.

Last month essentially represented the Toffees’ final opportunity to make some money on the 29-year-old.

His contract at Goodison Park is up at the end of the season, when the club will finally get his £55,000-per-week wages off the board [Source: Spotrac].

Hopefully that money will be given straight to Marcel Brands and Carlo Ancelotti to use how they see fit in the summer transfer window.

For Niasse, though, he could be forgiven for considering what his next move will be and what life will look like away from Goodison Park.

Indeed, Turkish outlet Fotospor report that Turkish title-chasers Trabzonspor are interested in signing the Senegal international.

The club are looking for a frontman to ease the burden on their first choice striker Alexander Sorloth, who is on loan there from Crystal Palace until the end of the next campaign.

Niasse spent one season in Turkey early on in his career, with Akhisar Belediyespor, and is said to want to return there.

Good deal all round?

It certainly looks like it, doesn’t it? Niasse is destined to leave Merseyside, that much has been apparent for quite some time now.

He’s thought to have turned down the chance to return to Russia, while he ruled out loan moves to the Championship last month, so neither of those possibilities appear very likely.

Turkey, though? It looks like that could be a very real possibility. He apparently wants to go back, while Trabzonspor want him. What’s not to like?

It looks very much like Trabzonspor will be competing in Europe in some capacity next season, so a bit of extra depth up front certainly wouldn’t hurt.

In other Everton news, a reported January transfer target of the club’s is said to be available come the summer.
