Report: Everton in for Dutch winger enjoying fine season
We are expecting Everton to be rather busy in the summer transfer window, as Carlo Ancelotti looks to mould his squad in his image.
There are a number of holes for the Italian to fill come the end of the season, with right back, centre back, central midfield and attacking midfield issues to solve.
Jonjoe Kenny may return from his loan spell at Schalke to ease one of those problems, while the eventual comebacks of Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin should help out in the middle of the park.
A centre half will probably be first up on Ancelotti’s to-do list, but sourcing a quality winger at a decent price could prove to be a challenge for the Blues boss and director of football Marcel Brands.
However, it appears that the Merseyside outfit have identified one potential option in AZ Alkmaar winger Oussama Idrissi.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato reported on Thursday that Everton, West Ham United and Leicester City are tracking the 23-year-old.
Meanwhile, Roma have been tracking the Moroccan international for some time, while Ajax are in the hunt as well.
Idrissi has managed 16 goals and eight assists in what has been a stunning campaign for him thus far.
Is Idrissi the man for Everton?
He’d certainly be a fascinating inclusion in the final third of the pitch for Ancelotti’s side, and it would be fantastic to see him in a blue shirt.
Yes, players from the Eredivisie are unpredictable. You can never quite know whether they’re going to be big successes or catastrophic failures.
You want to sign Luis Suarez not Afonso Alves, put it like that. However, Idrissi’s youth and quality makes him a solid gamble.
The thought of him linking up with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the Toffees’ attack is hugely exciting.
In other Everton news, the club reportedly have interest in a former Premier League winger starring in Italy.
