French journalist reveals the PSG view of Everton boss Ancelotti
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is one of the most decorated coaches in modern football, he has won trophies galore in several different countries.
He is a multi-time Champions League winner, and has coached many of the biggest clubs in world football.
However, that doesn’t mean that he hasn’t experienced some adversity. A few of his reigns have ended disappointingly.
His time at Chelsea was cut unfairly short, while his most recent job prior to the Toffees concluded on a sour note at Napoli.
The Italian’s tenure with Paris Saint-Germain didn’t quite work out perfectly either, but L’Equipe journalist Jose Barroso feels that the Parisian side may regret parting with the Toffees chief now.
“I think it was a missed rendezvous for PSG and Carlo,” he told the Liverpool Echo. “The feeling is that the directors of PSG made an error that day in acting that way.
“Since then they’ve only been able to get their second or third choice coaches with Laurent Blanc, Unai Emery and even Thomas Tuchel.
“It’s not what they wanted. They dreamed of Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho two years ago. They now think that had that kind of guy with Carlo and they missed their chance to work with him for longer.”
What does this mean for Everton?
Well, not a lot, but it does demonstrate how lucky the Merseyside outfit are to have a manager the calibre of Ancelotti.
He’s coached AC Milan, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich to name but a few, and now he’s in charge of the Toffees. That’s quite something.
It’s also a reminder that he must be given time. PSG wanted to storm ahead with their project, but they might’ve been better served being patient.
Everton need to bear that in mind. It won’t be a quick fix at Goodison, but Ancelotti can take the club to the next level if given time.
In other Everton news, one of the club’s reported transfer targets wants to leave his current team.
