Report – Ancelotti plots Everton swoop for 39-cap int’l from former club
Carlo Ancelotti could make a move to bring Napoli winger Hirving Lozano to Goodison Park in the summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The print edition of the Italian outlet, as cited by Sport Witness, suggests that the 60-year-old may raid former club to snap up the 39-cap Mexican international.
Lozano has fallen out of favour in Naples under new manager Gennaro Gattuso, and thus far, has registered just one start and a total of 61 minutes since the 2006 World Cup winner took over in the dugout.
Lozano has managed three goals in 28 appearances for Napoli since becoming their record signing at the beginning of the season.
Should the Toffees make a move for Lozano?
If they could get a tune out of the Mexican, then what a signing he could turn out to be.
Clearly he hasn’t been as electrifying in Italy as he was for PSV in the Netherlands, and that will have no doubt dented his reputation a little, but the winger is still only 24, and definitely still has a lot more to offer.
Last season, for instance, he had a Whoscored rating of 7.84 and averaged 2.4 successful dribbles per 90 minutes for the Dutch club.
If he could get anywhere near replicating that kind of form then he could prove to be a very savvy acquisition for the Toffees.
No doubt it would be a gamble too, but if anybody can get the best out of him then it is surely Carlo Ancelotti.
