Seamus Coleman gushes over one star Everton player

If there’s one Everton player whose opinion is universally respected by everyone associated with the club, it’s right back and captain Seamus Coleman.

The 31-year-old has been at the club since 2009, and in that time he’s established himself as a true Toffees legend.

Although he’s not quite the indomitable force he once was on the right hand side of the defence, he remains a hugely important player for the club.

So when he speaks, people listen, and when he raves about a player, you know they’re pretty decent.

On Monday he was speaking about his star Toffees teammate Richarlison, someone he clearly rates very highly.

“As attacking players go, he’s right up there,” he told the club’s official website. “He made that goal [against Crystal Palace] out of nothing, really.

“I was watching it from the right-back position and I’m thinking, ‘There is every chance he can get something here’. He finished it brilliantly.

“What I enjoy most about him – and I know everybody loves to see the goals – is his work-rate and desire to win. He’s got niggles every second week, but he gets on with it.

“He’s a warrior and we’re very happy to have him. He’s a proper Everton player.”

How good is the mercurial Brazilian?

He’s the real deal, there’s no doubt about that. Richarlison is that enigmatic player who can produce something out of nothing but, as Coleman says, he works extremely hard as well.

He has that cutting edge that’s needed in the final third, though. The Brazil international’s got nine goals and three assists this season.

That’s not a bad total in February for someone who isn’t an out and out centre forward. Certainly, the Toffees are always worse off when he doesn’t play.

Coleman is a big fan, and that’s the biggest feather in the cap of the former Watford man, because the Irishman has seen plenty of talented players over his decade plus on Merseyside.

In other Everton news, a former England international has been raving about a Toffees star who will be like a new signing.
