Report – Everton enter hunt for full int’l starlet with 19 goals this term
Everton are keen on making a move for 20-year-old Genk midfielder Jonathan David, according to Belgian outlet Jeunes Footeux.
The 20-year-old has been in eye-catching form in Belgium so far this term, hitting 19 goals and 10 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.
And it is understood that his displays are garnering attention from a a whole host of sides, with the Toffees reportedly facing competition for his signature from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Leicester City, as well as continental powerhouses Lyon, RB Leipzig, Napoli and Lazio.
David, who was born in Brooklyn, New York, but represents Canada at international level, also has 11 goals in 12 outings for the senior national side.
Would he be a good signing for Everton?
It’s always hard to give a definitive answer on a signing like this because a multitude of things can derail or unsettle a player of David’s age, but at this present moment in time, bearing in mind the potential he is showing, you would have to say that he has all the potential needed to be a top, top talent.
Landing him won’t be easy, but any 20-year-old who is hitting 19 goals and 10 assists in 35 outings from midfield is a serious prospect.
Hopefully, this is where we can begin to see the effect of having a manager like Ancelotti at the helm come into play.
With a man of his reputation at the helm, it would take a lot for a young player to not have their heads turned at least a little.
Fingers crossed, because whoever get David could prove to be very, very lucky indeed.
