Report – Continental side target summer swoop for senior Everton player

Everton striker Oumar Niasse is a target for Turkish side Trabzonspor, according to local outlet Gunebakis

The report suggests that the club are keen to snap up the 29-year-old after failing to land him last summer.

As such, it is understood that a plan to take him to Turkey is already underway.

Niasse is out of contract at the end of the season at Goodison Park, and has struggled to make an impact so far this term, registering just three Premier League appearances.

He has managed just 18 senior minutes under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, and it is understood that Trabzonspor will look to capitalise on his ailing status on Merseyside.

Would offloading Niasse be a good idea?

Yes, most likely.

The Senegalese striker seems like a standup guy, and lord knows he’s had to put up with some tricky spells during his time with the Toffees, but it’s very, very difficult to see how he could save himself from the brink this time.

At 29, with his contract running down, he looks as if he is destined for an exit, and honestly, it would probably be the best thing for him.

We have seen in fits and starts, and during several loan spells away from Merseyside, that Niasse has the ability to score goals, but he has lacked the consistency to make it in the Premier League.

This kind of switch could, therefore, be an ideal opportunity to showcase those talents in a league more befitting of his abilities.
