Report: Euro heavyweights want loan deal for Everton ace next season

Yannick Bolasie’s time at Everton has been a curious tale of misspent money, unfulfilled potential and temporary exits.

The DR Congo international arrived from Crystal Palace for big money having established himself as a very good Premier League player at Selhurst Park.

However, for whatever reason, he just simply hasn’t gotten the job done on Merseyside. Perhaps he’s been lost in the shuffle, but it’s just not worked out.

He’s since embarked on a succession of dreary loan spells away from the club, and is currently amid one such stint with Portuguese heavyweights Sporting Lisbon.

However, any hopes that Silas’ side would sign the 30-year-old on a permanent basis have now been shot down.

Portuguese outlet A Bola reported on Tuesday that Sporting will not be exercising their £3.7million permanent purchase option for the winger.

Instead, they want to sign Bolasie on another loan deal next season, with the veteran still contracted to Everton until the summer of 2021.

The player’s costly wages are a big reason why they won’t be signing him permanently, as he’s currently thought to earn £3.3million a year.

Should the Toffees sanction another Sporting loan?

it wouldn’t be the worst idea in all honesty. Unless another club comes in and says they want to sign Bolasie permanently, why wouldn’t you say yes to Sporting?

Another season-long loan would take the winger off the Toffees’ hands for another year, at the end of which he’ll leave on a free.

He’s done OK this campaign, with two goals and five assists, but nowhere near well enough that teams will be queuing up to sign him in the summer.

With that said, another year on loan in Portugal is probably the best that the Blues can ask for.

In other Everton news, a club president has confirmed the price tag of a reported Toffees transfer target.
