Neville Southall claims Everton star isn’t ‘happy’ at the club
Everton winger Theo Walcott has resembled something of an enigma throughout his time at the club, although his form has improved of late.
Still, a poorly-timed injury has stymied his recent progress. That’s frustrating, because he’s been much better of late.
On the most part, though, his form has been lacklustre and he hasn’t looked like the player he once was.
We all know the ability he has, he’s shown it time and time again, but Goodison Park hasn’t seemed like a good fit for him.
That’s led to talk, at times, that the England international simply does not want to be a Toffees player.
Only he can know the answer to that question, but Blues legend Neville Southall has his own thoughts on the matter.
“Players are human beings and you have to be happy where you play and I see some players today that don’t look happy – sometimes you’re just not the right person for that club,” he wrote in his column for iNews.
“That’s how I feel when I look at Theo Walcott at Everton, for instance.”
Is Southall onto something, here?
He might be, we simply don’t know. As mentioned earlier, only the player himself really knows if he’s truly happy at Everton.
Walcott doesn’t have a happy-go-lucky, positive demeanour on the pitch, there’s no doubt about that.
That doesn’t mean that he’s unhappy, because there are plenty of players like that. N’Golo Kante looks miserable at times.
But when you combine Walcott’s generally poor form at the club with his on-the-pitch demeanour, it doesn’t look good.
In other Everton news, a reliable journalist has claimed that he knows that a European giant is in for a Toffees right back.
