Report – Everton player reaches ‘end of the line’ after ill-fated loan move

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has reached the “end of the line” with loan club Sporting Lisbon, according to the print edition of Portuguese outfit A Bola, as cited by Sport Witness

The 30-year-old has spent the entirety of the campaign in the Portuguese capital, but has struggled to make a positive impact, registering just two goals and five assists.

And it is understood that Sporting have now ran out of patience with the wide man, and will not pursue a permanent deal for him in the summer.

The report also states that Bolasie is unlikely to play again this season, such is the extent of his fall from grace.

And that leaves Marcel Brands with a problem as he will now have to find another taker for the ex-Crystal Palace man at the end of the campaign.

How much of a blow is this for Everton?

It’s more of an inconvenience than anything else.

It probably goes without saying, but Bolasie is almost certainly out of chances to prove himself at Goodison Park, and that means that he is could really have done with making an impact in Portugal.

Instead, he has floundered, with an action success rate of just 49.7%, as per Wyscout, and it’s not hard to see why he has been deemed surplus to requirements by Sporting.

With an xG of just 0.19, and an actual goals per game of only 0.08, this has been a disastrous season for the winger, and the biggest task facing the Toffees now is finding somebody willing to take a gamble on their flop.
