Report – Everton plot ambitious double swoop for megastar British pair
Everton are plotting a double swoop to land Wales international duo Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale, according to 90min.com.
The report states that the Toffees are eager to establish themselves as one of the Premier League’s elite powerhouses, and will enact a transfer policy to match that ambition.
That would include moves to try and secure Ramsey from Juventus and Bale from Real Madrid.
It is understood that the board believe Carlo Ancelotti can be the man to steer the Toffees towards the upper echelons of the table in the near future, and are willing to equip him with the players he needs to make that aim a reality.
In both cases, it is understood that Ramsey and Bale are unsettled at their current clubs.
The former is said to have grown frustrated by a lack of opportunities in Turin, having started just nine Serie A games in his debut campaign in Italy.
For his part, it is understood that Real have no desire to continue paying Bale’s £350,000-a-week wages, and would even be willing to sanction a loan deal with no upfront cost if the recipient club is willing to pay the majority of the 30-year-old’s salary.
Should Everton pursue this deal?
If the Toffees are serious about becoming one of the best sides in England, then these are the type of signings that they need to be making.
Between them Ramsey and Bale represent two of the most talented British footballers in the modern game, and the prospect of having one of them at Goodison Park, let alone both, would be enough to get fans salivating.
Of the two, Bale is probably the more eye-catching, truth be told.
With four Champions League titles to his name, there are few players who can match him in terms of his achievements in the game, and even now, at the age of 30, and with a couple of difficult years with Real behind him, you would back him to still be a real threat in the Premier League.
