Report – Ancelotti plots £52.5 million Everton swoop for Serie A hitman
Everton are plotting to make a bid of £52.5 million for Torino striker Andrea Belotti, according to Tuttosport.
The Italian outlet claims that Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti is a fan of the 26-year-old hitman, who has scored 15 in 31 outings so far this season.
It is understood that the manager sees Belotti as a player capable of firing the Blues to European football next term.
The report also states that the Toffees could face competition from Inter Milan, Napoli, and Roma for the striker’s signature.
It is understood that Torino would be more willing to do business with a club who don’t represent a direct threat to them on a domestic level, but are still reluctant to lose their star asset this summer.
Would Belotti be a good signing for the Toffees?
The Italian is a top quality talent there’s no doubt about it, and having him at Goodison Park would surely represent a sizeable boost to Everton’s hopes of achieving European football next term.
So far this season he has averaged 0.58 goals per 90 minutes from an xG of 0.53, as well as completing 4.98 successful dribbles per game and having 5.12 touches in the opposition box, as per Wyscout.
All of those numbers are superior to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s for the same period of time, and Belotti boasts a considerable amount of experience too.
Having him in the side would not only ease the burden on Calvert-Lewin, but also give the Englishman somebody to learn from and develop alongside.
If we can wrap up a deal for Belotti, it would be a fantastic piece of business.
