Report – Everton enter race for 23y/o CL semi-finalist

Everton are the latest side to enter the race for Ajax midfielder Donny Van de Beek, according to Le10Sport

The French outlet claims that the Toffees are eager to land the 23-year-old, and have expressed an interest in making a move for him in the next transfer window.

The report also states that Newcastle United are keen on the Dutchman, but that both Premier League sides will face competition from heavyweights Real Madrid and Manchester United.

The report claims that the Toffees are also interested in signing Brazilian midfielder Allan, but are considering Van de Beek as an alternative.

It is understood that the Blues have started to watch last season’s Champions League semi-finalist at the personal request of manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Would Van de Beek be a good signing for the Toffees?

Almost certainly, yes.

You need only look at the fact that Real Madrid are keen on him to realise the quality that the Dutchman possesses, and if Ancelotti is a personal fan, that is a promising sign too.

So far this season, he has 14 goals and seven assists from the centre of midfield, as well as averaging 1.8 shots and 1.6 key passes per game, as well as a match rating of 7.27, as per Whoscored.

As a point of reference, Gylfi Sigurdsson has averaged a match rating of just 6.7 per match this term.

Van de Beek would surely be a marked improvement on what Ancelotti already has at his disposal, and if a deal could be struck for the right price, it could be an impressive piece of business.
