Report – Everton plot raid for £30m PL youngster

Everton are keeping tabs on Burnley winger Dwight McNeil, according to the Daily Mail.

A report from the national outlet suggests that the Toffees are monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation, with the Clarets valuing him at around £30 million.

The article also states that Crystal Palace and Manchester United are keen on the wide man, and could use the £50 million they received for Aaron Wan-Bissaka to fund a move.

Meanwhile, the report also suggests that United may not choose to convert their interest into a firm bid for the youngster – a decision that could increase the Toffees’ chances of signing him.

Another factor could prove to be the financial impact that the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has on Burnley, with the club openly stating that they are struggling to deal with he scale of the crisis.

Would McNeil be a good signing for the Toffees?

There’s a lot to suggest he could be, yes.

The winger has been an impressive part of Burnley’s first team picture for some time now, and there is a reason why he is being touted for an England call-up, as per the Athletic.

So far this season he has averaged 2.2 successful dribbles per game, as well as 1.5 key passes, as per Whoscored.

As a point of reference, Bernard has just 1.2 successful dribbles and 1.1 key passes, as per Whoscored.

McNeil would be both a step up on what we already have, as well as a serious investment based on his age and obvious potential.

Signing him would be a real coup.
