Ex-Everton ace: Injured Toffees star facing two major tests before returning to fitness

Injured Everton midfielder Jean-Phillipe Gbamin is facing two major tests before returning to full fitness, that’s according to Liverpool Echo columnist Michael Ball.

Speaking from experience, the former Rangers and Everton defender claimed that his mental strength will be integral in recovery at Finch Farm after rupturing his Achilles.

The second test is obviously his physical strength, Ball claimed that Gbamin is in the best hands possible at Everton and hoped that he would be given small tests to complete during his recovery to help out.

The Ivorian international hasn’t exactly had the best starts to life at Goodison Park since arriving from Mainz in the summer.

It maybe comes as no surprise that the 24-year-old suffered another injury so soon after his recent thigh problem.

Everton physio Adam Newall told the BBC in April that Gbamin had to be reined in at times to make sure that he didn’t cause himself another setback – something which clearly happened recently.

Everton and Carlo Ancelotti will be without the midfielder for the remainder of the season once it resumes, and he won’t likely be a big miss.

The 24-year-old has only featured for 135 minutes in the Premier League due to his injury struggles, although he did impress averaging two tackles in both his appearances [WhoScored].

Ancelotti will have to make do with the likes of Fabian Delph, Tom Davies and Andre Gomes – who should be back available after that horror leg-break against Tottenham earlier in the season.
