
Rio Ferdinand heaps praise on Everton mainstay in ‘superb place’ under Ancelotti
Rio Ferdinand has been impressed with Everton defender Mason Holgate this season under Carlo Ancelotti.
The Manchester United great heaped praise on the superb form of the youngster, claiming he has become one of the Toffees’ most-consistent players.
Holgate recently signed a new deal at Goodison Park after impressing since the arrival of Ancelotti this season.
Ferdinand claimed that Holgate is starting to achieve each of his goals, with England recognition coming up.
“I’ve seen more focus in Mason’s performances,” he told Everton’s official website.
“He’s in a really superb place. His form for Everton has been excellent – he’s been one of the most consistent players in a blue shirt.
“He’d been touted as being in the next England squad. He’s set goals for himself and he’s starting to knock those goals down, one by one.”
Ferdinand also took time to heap praise on former Manchester United enforcer Michael Keane, claiming that the Everton duo could form a great partnership in Merseyside.
Keane shared over the weekend that he had been on Zoom calls with a former trainer working on his turn of speed and agility to stay with opposing attackers – something which shows his willingness to learn still at this stage of his career.
One thing we do know is that Ancelotti certainly has a headache to select his best defence and midfield, with Holgate being pushed into midfield once again a potential idea moving forward.
