Tim Cahill: This is how I knew Carlo Ancelotti was perfect fit for Everton after meeting
Tim Cahill has opened up on his meeting with Carlo Ancelotti during his last trip to Everton before the enforced lockdown.
The Australian legend reached icon status at Goodison Park before he left and regularly goes back to take in some of the famous Merseyside atmospheres.
Cahill admitted that Ancelotti knows exactly what it takes to succeed at Everton, and put that down to his passion from speaking.
Cahill has recalled a visit to Goodison before the break, one in which he met with Ancelotti before leaving.
“When I was last at Everton, just before the pandemic, he drove past me and then he stopped, reversed, got out the car and gave me a hug,” he told the Daily Mail.
“That is part of what Everton means. He knows that by the way, he talks about the club. You can hear it in his voice.”
Ancelotti has certainly stepped up to the mark since arriving at the club and cemented the Toffees’ spot in the top half of the Premier League despite their early struggles.
That is without any backing in the transfer window yet, just imagine how much better it can be with a serious injection of cash in the summer.
Sky Sports journalist Nicolo Schira has reported that Everton have opened talks with Thiago Silva, a move fully depending on Ancelotti and if they are the sort of deals he can bring to the club then we are in for a great season next year.
