Everton in race with number of European giants for £27.1m-rated playmaker – report

If there is one thing that Sunday proved against Liverpool, it was that Everton are thin in the midfield department.

With players such as Glyfi Sigurdsson and Fabian Delph not being available from the start of the game, Andre Gomes and Tom Davies were the only players available to Carlo Ancelotti.

Seamus Coleman admitted on Monday that players are playing for their futures between now and the end of the season as Ancelotti plans to enter his first transfer window.

One of the first targets appears to be a playmaker for the Toffees. Tuttomercatoweb has reported on their website that Everton are interested in Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Dominic Szboszlai.

The Italian online outlet have claimed on their website that some of Europe’s biggest teams are ready to challenge for his signature including Napoli, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Hertha Berlin, Sevilla, Valencia, and Juventus.

It has been claimed that the Hungarian superstar will cost £27.1million in the summer, so no wonder there are a number of clubs interested.

So, why are there so many clubs interested in Szboszlai? The 19-year-old has been a real vocal point for the Austrian side this season.

Szboszlai has found the back of the net six times, having 2.64 shots per game according to WyScout – finding the target 39.2% of the time.

As well as that, the Hungarian sensation is also a thorn in the opposing side when defending, making over three interceptions in every game.

There are a number of clubs in the race, but if Everton and Ancelotti can win that race, it will be a real signal of intent going into next season.
