‘Absolute embarrassment’ – Adrian Durham slams Everton & Ancelotti for one thing v Liverpool

TalkSPORT host Adrian Durham has slammed Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti for not trying to win the game against Liverpool on Sunday evening.

Durham believes that the Toffees manager was embarrassing in his decision to go defensive against their nearest rivals, claiming that he had much better options available on the bench.

Everton drew 0-0 in the Merseyside derby and could have stolen all three points towards the end of the game if Tom Davies didn’t hit the post.

Durham slammed the Italian and claimed that he had more than enough options to have attacked the Premier League leaders.

“As for Everton, they played with six defenders,” he said on talkSPORT.

“You’re right in saying Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin are a handful, but they’re not going to be a handful if six of their outfield 10 are all defenders.

“You’re at home to Liverpool, you’ve just seen Liverpool beaten by Watford 3-0, is that really the best you can do?

“If you have a look at Everton’s subs, I’m telling you mate, it’s embarrassing, absolute embarrassment from Carlo Ancelotti.

“He’s not even tried to win the game.”

Looking at the game, Everton were certainly dominated but it seems harsh for Durham to suggested that Ancelotti wasn’t looking to pick up all three points.

On a different evening, Everton could easily have taken the points from their nearest rivals and if Davies’ strike hit the other side of the post, Durham would have been sat praising the Italian.

If you open up and allow Liverpool to counter-attack in games, you will get easily swept aside and it could be embarrassing, so we’re quite happy with how it ended up on Sunday.
