‘Absolutely shocking’, ‘Fraud’ – Many Everton fans savage ‘Useless’ player at FT v Spurs

Everton midfielder Tom Davies made his 100th appearance for the Toffees on Monday evening when starting against Tottenham.

Only Michael Ball has reached that milestone at Goodison Park quicker, with Davies only just turning 22-years-old in the past week.

Carlo Ancelotti decided to use the young midfielder out wide for large periods, raising some questions from the Everton faithful throughout the game.

It couldn’t have been a worst appearance from the midfielder in such a big occasion, on the biggest stage, he looked so out of his depth.

Should Jean-Phillipe Gbamin have not been injured on his return to training after the lockdown, it would most likely have been the Ivorian starting on Monday.

Davies has averaged just over one tackle and interception per game this season, and well under a single attempt on goal and key passes according to WhoScored.

Ancelotti using the youngster in the middle and out wide could prove that he still doesn’t know his best position despite having made 100 appearances.

Many Everton fans took to social media to tear apart Davies for his performance on Monday, and it didn’t help when he played a part in the opening goal for Spurs.

The 22-year-old was given the task to man-mark Giovanni Lo Celso, but the Argentine got free and his effort was deflected into the net by Michael Keane.

The majority of Toffees fans had seen enough of Davies and called for him to be taken out of the side and more importantly that specific role.
