Reliable journalist: Never-before-seen Everton youngster could get chance this season
Carlo Ancelotti has proven during his short spell in charge of Everton that he isn’t afraid to utilise the club’s academy system.
The Toffees boss has handed his Premier League debut to Anthony Gordon already, and has included Jarrod Branthwaite in first-team training sessions.
Ancelotti hasn’t stopped there though, with a number of new faces being spotted in training at Finch Farm since the restart.
Liverpool Echo journalist Mark Wakefield has shared that young striker Ellis Simms is the latest to be impressing in training.
“The 19-year-old has been tipped for a bright future at Goodison Park, having impressed for the club’s youth sides in recent seasons,” he wrote.
“Ancelotti has seen enough of the young striker to have him included in first-team training, and it is not out of the question to think that he could even be involved at some level this season.
“The teenager is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Blues this term, but that could change over the course of the final six league fixtures.”
Simms could have got the chance to feature in the matchday squad against Tottenham on Monday evening.
Richarlison scored in the 2-1 win over Leicester recently at Goodison Park but was a doubt earlier in the week after hobbling off in that clash.
In the same report, Wakefield confirmed that the South American has been back in training and is set to hand the Toffees a boost at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
