Report shares Everton stance on Jonjoe Kenny after successful Schalke loan spell

Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny was unexpectedly shipped out on loan last season to Schalke in the Bundesliga.

Despite having featured in the Premier League for the Toffees, the young full-back was sent out after Djibril Sidibe arrived from Monaco.

Kenny excelled under David Wagner despite his struggles in charge of the club and was even nominated for the Rookie of the Year award.

The 23-year-old is due back at Finch Farm on Friday, with the defender told to stay away after returning from Germany.

The Liverpool Echo have reported that Everton are open to selling Kenny if a realistic offer is placed on the table.

According to the report, it is likely that he will remain with the Toffees next season, and will be part of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

A number of clubs have been in contact over the availability of Kenny, but Ancelotti expects him to rival Seamus Coleman at Goodison Park.

Comparing Kenny to the less than inspiring Sidibe last season via WhoScored, he certainly has what it takes to fill that gap in the squad.

The 23-year-old averaged more clearances and blocks and was also dribbled past fewer times throughout the season.

Despite the Frenchman outperforming Kenny in attacking terms, the youngster managed two more goals and was involved in one more strike all together – not bad.

The Toffees seem relaxed over his future past last season, and it would be no surprise whichever the outcome is this summer, let’s hope to see Kenny come back better from his Schalke spell.
