Everton keen to renegotiate with defender as club hit with FFP sanctions – reports

It looked like Everton had missed out on Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

The French club were demanding £30million for the Brazilian, and the Toffees simply admitted that they wouldn’t be forced into overspending.

Times have changed though, with Lille currently being hit by financial fair play sanctions for their transfer business.

That could have opened the door for Marcel Brands and Everton.

The Liverpool Echo have reported on their website that Carlo Ancelotti remains keen on finalising a move for Magalhaes, who would be keen on a switch to Goodison Park.

Lille are desperate to sell players, but only for as much as possible as they attempt to balance their books are serious levels of loss in recent years.

The 22-year-old’s future is reportedly well-and-truly in the air, with a number of clubs also in the race for his signature given Lille’s struggles.

Everton

One thing is clear, Everton will not be spending £30million on the Brazilian, and that could see them losing out.

Marcel Brands has grown angry over leaked transfer stories in recent weeks, and he needs to put that behind him and concentrate on pleasing Carlo Ancelotti.

Yerry Mina squashed rumours he would be leaving Goodison Park this summer, meaning Magalhaes will have his fellow South American, Mason Holgate and Michael Keane for competition, meaning a headache is coming Ancelotti’s way.
