Everton update stadium plans, development director comments on changes

Everton have once again updated their stadium plans for the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The Toffees shared the updated pictures on their official Twitter account on Wednesday evening, with fans uncertain on the new look.

The plans included a new plaza, which some fans reacted to claiming it looks more like a shopping centre than a football stadium.

Stadium development director, Colin Chong, delivered a message to the Toffees faithful after the released pictures.

“This additional local consultation, together with some aspects of the project relating to third parties having slowed slightly due to the impact of COVID-19, means that – subject to planning approval and finalising our funding packages – it is most likely that work could commence on-site early in 2021,” he said.

“As there are currently so many factors over which we do not have direct control, it would be unwise to commit to a specific date when our build will commence – or when we are likely to be playing in the new stadium.”

With this positive update on the new build, it is likely that Goodison Park will only see two or three more Premier League seasons.

Yes, it is great that Chong and his team are determined to get the new Bramley-Moore dock complex built, but it is also a sad time in history for the Toffees.

Carlo Ancelotti will be determined to make sure that by the time the new stadium is built, there will be European football accompanying it.
