Everton signing details Carlo Ancelotti conversation before sealing switch
New Everton signing Niels Nkounkou has shared what Carlo Ancelotti told him before sealing his switch to Goodison Park.
The French left-back moved to Merseyside on a free-deal after his last contract expired at Marseille over the summer.
Everton won the race against many other suitors for the youngster, and he made his debut against Blackpool in the 3-3 draw.
Nkounkou admitted that he was immensely proud to be wanted by a manager such as Ancelotti in a recent interview.
“Carlo called before we finalised my transfer,” Nkounkou told Evertontv.
“He told me he was very pleased I was coming over to join the Club and that he was going to teach me a lot of things so I would be ready to play from my arrival.
“Carlo had a great career as a player and another great career as a manager, everywhere he has been he has won titles.
“When a coach like him takes an interest in you, it is something that makes you really proud.”
Nkounkou started training with the under-23s but was pushed into the first-team set up after impressing in his first week under David Unsworth.
There will be no doubting the fact that he will be behind Lucas Digne, but there will be plenty of opportunities for him in cup competitions under Ancelotti.
The 19-year-old claimed he will bring speed and power down the left-hand side, and we can’t wait to see just that.
