Everton see loan-to-buy offer rejected for Barcelona defender – report
Everton are in the market for a right-back this summer.
It seems strange to say though, with Carlo Ancelotti having Seamus Coleman and the returning Jonjoe Kenny both available to choose next season.
Djibril Sidibe has returned to Monaco after his loan spell at Goodison Park, which seemingly opens up a slot for Ancelotti – Kenny returning or not.
They appear to have found their man too.
Mundo Deportivo have reported that the Toffees placed a two-year loan offer with an option to buy for Barcelona defender Emerson.
The Spanish outlet claim on their website that Barcelona have rejected that offer, along with another one from Italian side AC Milan.
It is suggested that Barcelona would only consider offers in the region of £26.7million (€30m) as they want the Brazilian to leave permanently rather than on loan again.
Emerson is currently at Real Betis and has impressed there despite Barcelona’s apparent stance on the South American.
The 21-year-old was involved in 10 goals last season, scoring four and delivering six assists in La Liga.
The right-back did only win 60.2% of his defensive duels though according to WyScout and Ancelotti will be wanting him to improve in that area if he is to go in with another bid.
With Barcelona reportedly only willing to sell for a fee over £25million, we find it highly unlikely that the Toffees will go for Emerson after signing the likes of Allan and James Rodriguez.
