Mason Holgate sets Everton goals for 20/21 season, claims Toffees must finish here

Mason Holgate has insisted that Everton must qualify for European football next season in the Premier League.

The 2020/21 season will be Carlo Ancelotti’s first-full campaign in charge at Goodison Park, and fans will no doubt expect results.

Everton laboured to a bottom-half finish in the Premier League last season, losing to relegated Bournemouth on the final day.

Holgate and his teammates clearly know they must do better, and that is clear when he addresses their goals for the season.

“We have to be challenging for Europe,” he told the official club website.

“That was our aim last season, and at one point we felt we had a chance, but we tailed off towards the end.

“We need to find a consistent level of performance. Some weeks we are really good, or we might win two or three games in a row, but then we don’t win for two or three.

“That is what we need to put right.”

Holgate is spot on and we all know it.

Everton have been far too low down the Premier League for far too long now, and you can tell there is a different determination next season.

Ancelotti and Marcel Brands are going for it in the window too. Their midfield appears to be the one area that they believe needs to be strengthened.

James Rodriguez and Allan are both closing in on moves to Merseyside, and those are big names with Champions League experience.

They will be expecting European football, and it appears that the Toffees are ready for that challenge next season and beyond.
