Confirmed Everton team news v Spurs: Three debuts as player recovers from injury scare

Everton start their Premier League season against Tottenham on Sunday as the Toffees look to bounce back from their disappointing form after lockdown.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men finished the last campaign with a defeat to Bournemouth and limped to a bottom-half finish at Goodison Park.

Marcel Brands managed to complete deals for Allan, James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure in the build-up to the Spurs clash, and they will all make their debuts.

Ancelotti has decided to pack out his midfield with Andre Gomes also starting in the capital on Sunday afternoon – surviving an injury scare.

It will be a four-man midfield, with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin once again leading the line continuing from last season.

In defence, Seamus Coleman, Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Lucas Digne will start with Mason Holgate missing through injury.

After two clean sheets on international duty, the heavily-criticised Jordan Pickford will be looking to start his season in the perfect manner against Spurs.

Ancelotti also has a strong bench to choose from, with Jonjoe Kenny the only defensive representative for the Toffees.

Tom Davies and Gylfi Sigurdsson then join the likes of Bernard, Theo Walcott and Moise Kean as the Merseyside club start the season with a strong squad available to them.

The likes of Fabian Delph have missed out, as they look likely to exit Goodison Park with the deadline for transfers running for yet another three weeks.
