Tarashaj returns to Everton after Emmen loan deal terminated

Everton forward Shani Tarashaj has had his loan deal with Dutch club FC Emmen terminated after not making a single league appearance for the side last season.

Tarashaj was loaned to Emmen at the start of last season for two years. But the Dutch club have terminated that loan with almost one full season left.

The only appearances the Swiss forward has made for Emmen were the two outings he had for their youth team.

Athletic journalist Patrick Boyland stated on Twitter that a statement on the club website said the forward had β€˜never been able to show his talent’ in his time in Holland.

Tarashaj missed a large chunk of last season with knocks and also a month-long battle with the flu, but he still had plenty of chances on the training ground to show his quality.

Obviously, he was never good enough for the first team and now the Toffees have a player on their books who, at the age of 25, can’t get a game for a team who finished twelfth in the Eredivisie last year.

He arrived at Goodison Park from Swiss side Grasshopper in 2016 but has failed to make a competitive appearance for the Toffees. He has had four loan moves away from Everton, including two back to Grasshopper.

Before that he was loaned to Eintracht Frankfurt for the 2016/17 season, where he made 15 appearances, scoring one goal in the Bundesliga.

It is hard to imagine that Tarashaj has a future at Goodison Park, so it will be interesting to see what happens now the misfit forward is back at his parent club.

In other Everton news, Gylfi Sigurdsson decided a deadline day exit to β€˜fight for his place at Goodison Park.
