View: Does Everton’s reported striker target have what it takes to cut it in the PL?

There have been reports that Everton will try to sign Napoli forward Arkadiusz Milik in January to bolster their attacking options.

The 26-year-old has been linked with several moves to the Premier League, but the Polish international has never made the journey across to England.

If the report from Tuttomercatoweb is to be believed then the Toffees will make a move for the man who scored the winning penalty in the Coppa Italia final last season, in January.

But what kind of player will Everton be getting if they do manage to lure Milik to Goodison Park?

The Polish forward notched 11 goals in 26 games in Serie A last season, which isn’t a bad record by any means, especially performing in a Napoli side that finished seventh in the league.

But his stats from last season aren’t incredible. He managed to get 45% of his shots on target last season, which is pretty average for a forward. For comparison, Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku registered 50.2% of his shots on target. Milik also only had a 30% successful dribble rate which is disappointing for an attacker of any description, whether that be a winger or an out-and-out forward. (WyScout)

The 26-year-old also only won 29.4% of his offensive duels last term and 36.2% of his total duels. This doesn’t suggest that Milik has the physicality to cut it in the Premier League, meaning it is something he would need to work on if he does indeed make the move to English football.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any stats that stand out and give you an idea of what Milik’s strengths are as a centre forward. Less than half of his total actions last season were successful, registering a 48.9% total action success rate.

His goal record from last term serves as the only indicator that the Napoli striker is a decent player, luckily for a striker that’s really the only stat that matters.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have been given a boost ahead of the Merseyside derby with a key Liverpool player set to miss the game.
