Ancelotti shares injury update on Gbamin ahead of Everton clash v Liverpool

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has given an injury update ahead of this weekend’s Merseyside derby and said that Jean-Philippe Gbamin could be fit by ‘the end of November’.

Gbamin moved to Goodison Park from Mainz in the summer of 2019 but has only made two first-team appearances due to injury.

Speaking to Everton’s website, Ancelotti said that he will have returning players available to him on Saturday and hopes that Jean-Phillipe Gbamin could be just a few weeks away from returning.

Ancelotti said, “Andre Gomes is available for Saturday, no problem. Allan started to train with the team this week. If nothing happens in the next few days he will be available to play against Liverpool. I think Seamus is going to be good, too, because he started to train with us on Monday.

“Gbamin is working individually, he is not here [at USM Finch Farm] yet. I think he is going to be here in 15 days and start to work apart from the team in the beginning, and then with the team. At the end of the November, I think he can be fit to play.”

Gbamin has had a torrid start to life at Everton after missing the majority of last season with injuries to his Achilles and hamstring, but it seems a return to action could be coming soon.

The Ivorian will join a packed midfield when he returns, following the summer acquisitions of James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan. He will add strength and depth to Ancelotti’s side as they look to build on their excellent start to the season.

Everton face their trickiest game so far this weekend and it is possible their 100% record this season will be disrupted by last season’s champions, Liverpool. But the Toffees will take confidence into the game following the stellar form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the fact that the Reds lost their last Premier League game 7-2 to Aston Villa.

In other Everton news, a Toffees’ loanee has had his loan two-year loan cancelled after just 12 months.
