Everton offer Tosun to Besiktas in bid to offload him – CNN Turkey
Everton have offered Cenk Tosun to former club Besiktas in an effort to find him a move away from Goodison Park, according to CNN Turkey.
Tosun signed for the Toffees in January 2018 from Besiktas but has struggled to hold down a regular place at Goodison Park.
He only made five Premier League appearances for Everton last season before being loaned to Crystal Palace, where he also only made five appearances, scoring one goal.
Now CNN Turkey are reporting that the Turkish striker has been ‘suggested’ to Besiktas, suggesting that the forward isn’t in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.
Tosun is currently returning to fitness after suffering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that he picked up in March.
But it seems that even when he returns to full fitness, Everton will be looking to offload him. This report comes despite Tosun being included in Ancelotti’s 25 man Premier League squad.
Other players who have been linked with moves away, such as Mo Besic and Yannick Bolasie weren’t included in Everton’s squad but Tosun was, despite not playing for the club since December 2019.
He didn’t play at all for Everton following the appointment of Ancelotti and he was quickly sent out on loan by the Italian. That loan spell will have done nothing to convince the Everton boss that he is worth keeping, even though the forward was unlucky with his injury.
Tosun did have one memorable moment in an Everton shirt last season, scoring a 97th-minute equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur in the game when Andre Gomes picked up his horrible injury. But it looks like he won’t have any more opportunities to play in front of the Everton faithful, with the club trying to offload him.
In other Everton news, this summer the Toffees were put offf signing a Premier League centre back due to his wage demands.
