Everton watch Rangers midfielder that Gerrard is desperate to keep – Report

Everton have identified Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara as a potential transfer target after watching the 24-year-old in the last few weeks, according to TEAMtalk.

The Gers midfielder has been a standout performer for Steven Gerrard’s side this season and has attracted interest from clubs all over Europe.

TEAMtalk claim that Everton have watched Kamara in the last few weeks along with fellow Premier League sides Leeds and Southampton.

The report also states that Gerrard is ‘desperate’ to tie down Kamara on a new long term deal to fight off any potential interest in January.

While the midfielder has two years left on his Ibrox deal the signing of a new contract would signal that the Finland international has no plans to leave Glasgow.

But, following this new report, the question on some Toffees fans lips must be, do Everton need another central midfielder?

The Toffees signed three central midfield players this summer. With James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan arriving at Goodison Park from Real Madrid, Watford and Napoli respectively.

If you also consider that Gylfi Sigurdsson, Tom Davies and Jean-Philippe Gbamin are still at the club, it makes no sense for Everton to bring in another midfielder.

This could indicate that Ancelotti is prepared to let one of his current midfielders go. Davies and Sigurdsson were both linked with moves away this summer but non transpired. Perhaps Everton are looking at replacements for if they decide to let one of their current players go in January.

In other Everton news, a report claims that Everton chose not to sign £31.8m-rated international in summer.
