Everton interested in Villarreal winger Chukwueze – Report
Everton are interested in bringing Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze to Goodison Park according to 90min.com.
The 20-year-old is reportedly looking to take the next step in his career with Everton among several Premier League clubs who hold interest in the La Liga winger.
90min report that Manchester United, Liverpool and Leicester are also monitoring Chukwueze’s situation as he looks for a move away from Spain.
The attacker has one goal and one assist in the Spanish top-flight this season and he has also impressed in his two Europa League appearances, registering an assist against Qarabag.
It is unknown how much Villarreal will demand for Chukwueze but he may cost the Toffees a hefty fee as a young man with plenty of potential. The club must make sure they conduct due diligence before they make an offer if they want to avoid another costly flop.
Alex Iwobi is one player who falls under this category. The former Arsenal man arrived at Goodison Park after failing to impress in North London and his form hasn’t improved on Merseyside.
The Nigerian international has scored three goals for Everton since his move in 2019 and he hasn’t won over many of the Goodison faithful with his lacklustre performances.
The 24-year-old has only started one Premier League game this season and he hasn’t made any impact in his numerous appearances off the bench registering no goals and only one assist.
Iwobi hasn’t yet shown Carlo Ancelotti that he is worth keeping in the first team, this perhaps explains why Everton are reportedly interested in Chukwueze. The January transfer window isn’t that far away so we won’t have to wait too long to find out if Everton will make a move for the Villarreal man.
In other Everton news, Cenk Tosun has been handed a lifeline by Ancelotti.
